Hello Jennifer!
I spent the last day or two creating some musical references. These are excerpts, rather than songs, designed to be starting points for further discussion. My goal was to explore a variety of different sounds and possibilities, so there are examples of ambient, piano-focused underscore, as well as a 1930s Dixieland-style tune. You should be able to download the audio tracks if you wish. Thanks so much for listening, and for the invitation to submit some demo tracks.
All of the following are written, performed, and assembled by me.
This one is a departure from what you had before, but I wanted to capture the sense of magic when Grace strides out into the world, and is subsequently amazed by the contents of the jewelry store. Please forgive the awkward video capture!
“Ambient Piano Mix” (clever title 😃) is reminiscent of some of your drone references. It incorporates ethereal piano, electric bass, strings, as well as percussive and noise/static sound elements, along with a featured melody.
“Long Ago and Far Away” is another slow and moody piece, this time a bit more in the Angelo Badalamenti style; a simple but insistent rhythm, slowly building in layers. This uses piano, electric guitar, and synth.
“Kennedy Rag” shifts the vibe to an uptempo, period-appropriate piece, along with an emulation of 1930s production sound.
Here’s a last-minute addition, called “Not Looking Back”. It features acoustic guitar, supported by strings and piano.
I look forward to further discussion!
